Army, Wapda in final

LAHORE, May 4: Army and Wapda entered the final of the 12th national baseball championship at the Iqbal Parks Sports Complex Ground on Sunday.

The final will be played on Monday at 1pm.

Both Army and Wapda beat Police in the super league matches.

Army beat Police 25-3 in the first match.

Zafar Iqbal scored four runs while Riaz Khan with a home run scored three runs.

Aashiq Hussain, Farooq Ahmad and Tariq Pasha added three runs each.

Kamran Mehboob also hit a home run to score two. Sarfraz Ahmad and Abdur Rehman chipped in two runs each to become other major scorers.

Shahzad Anwar scored two runs while Mussadaq Hanif added a run for Police.

Wapda struggled to beat Police 22-15.

Wapda’s Asghar Siddique scored three runs with a home run while Abu Bakar, Basit Murtaza, Muhammad Nisar and Amjad Farooq also added three runs each.

Nasir Nadeem with a home hit scored two runs and Abid Mehmood who also scored two runs were the other major scorers for the winners.

For Police, Shahzad Anwar scored two runs with a home run. Naseer Niazi, Lateef Moughal, Khurram Shahzad Butt and Ghulam Hussain with two runs each were the other main scorers.
