SUKKUR, May 4: A workshop was held here on Saturday on the decentralization of the support programme in collaboration with the federal finance department and the Asian Development Bank.
The ADB’s consultant, Farrukh Bashir Moryani, conducted the workshop.
Explaining its aims and objectives, Mr Moryani said that the workshop was aimed at orienting key officials to the decentralization of the support programme besides providing technical assistance to the local government and introducing the focal persons to the annual work plan for technical assistance.
The workshop, he said, was also aimed at defining the roles of the focal persons by providing them with guidelines for holding dialogue sessions, generating and screening investment options and supporting inputs to technical investment options.
Earlier, the DCO, Sukkur, Pir Ziaul Haq Suharwardi, welcomed the participants of the workshop, which was attended by the acting district Nazim, Iqbal Dawood, EDOs, taluka Nazims, Naib Nazims, TMOs and other officers concerned.
UPGRADED: The Sindh Professors and Subject Specialists Association (SPSSA) has demanded that more higher secondary schools should be established in the district.
This demand was made at a meeting of the SPSSA, held at a school here on Thursday.
Speaking at the meeting, Sukkur SPSSA leader Imtiaz Shaikh said the Kandhra High School, Salehpat High School and the New Pind High School should be upgraded to higher secondary schools.
