KARACHI, May 4: Sindh Minister for Education, Irfanullah Khan Marwat, has said that under the denationalization of education project seven thousand persons will be given employment opportunities and more than 200,000 students will get higher education opportunities.
Talking to a delegation of the Sindh Democratic Alliance that called on him here on Sunday, the education minister said the project, estimated to cost Rs5880 million, was also supported by the Asian Development Bank which had provided an amount of Rs4538.124 million for the purpose.
He said the project was mainly aimed at improving the quality of education right from the primary to the middle level, particularly in the rural and suburban parts of the province.
He said in the first phase pre-primary education was being introduced this year in some 120 schools across the province, and 240 schools were being upgraded as elementary schools.
Mr Marwat said measures were being adopted to also provide free books to students of class 6 to 8, while 10 teachers would be trained to teach nursery-level students.—APP
