LAHORE, May 1: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) received lucrative sponsorship to the tune of Rs 15 million by National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and SAF Games Organising Committee to help assist the national federation in the continuation of its activity programme.

The major share of Rs 10 million was given by NBP and SAF Games Organising Committee gave away remaining Rs 5 million from a 10 million package.

The announcement was made a reception given to honour the members of Pakistan team which won the Azlan Shah Cup.

Bank Alfalah gave a cheque of Rs 220,000 each for the senior team for winning the Azlan Shah Cup and for the junior team for finishing second in a 7-nation tournament in Egypt recently.

Special prizes for outstanding performances were also given, senior team’s penalty corner shooter Sohail Abbas was awarded Rs 20000 and Junior teams goalkeeper Salman Akbar received a similar award.—APP
