Javed shines for AKG

KARACHI, May 1: Javed Mansoor struck an unbeaten 127 to steer Aga Khan Gymkhana to an easy seven-wicket victory against Tapal CC in the final of the Aqeel Memon Invitation cricket tournament at AKG Ground here the other day.

Javed’s 97-ball innings was laced with eight fours and a brace of sixes as Aga Khan Gymkhana reached their target of 234 in 33.3 overs.

Saleem A. Rahim (51) and Zulfiqar P. Khan (35 not out) were other main scorers for the winners.

Earlier, Shahid Iqbal hammered an undefeated 107 off 90 deliveries for Tapal CC who made 233 for four in their 35 overs. Shahid and Akif Alvi, who hit a whirlwind 54 off only 24 balls with four sixes and three fours, put on 133 for the unbroken fifth wicket.

Later chief guest Mr Aziz Memon, honorary Counsel General Republic of Surinam, gave away the prizes.
