Asif and Salman slam centuries

KARACHI, May 1: Superb centuries by Asif Zakir and Salman Khan laid the foundation of Dewan Sugar Mills’ comprehensive 176-run victory over PTCL Karachi in the 12th Hinopak Trophy KCCA inter-firm cricket tournament match at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground here on Wednesday.

Asif hammered 102 with 11 fours and six sixes while Salman stroked four sixes and as many fours in an opening partnership of 209 to help defending champions Dewan Sugar Mills reach a mammoth 306 for five in 40 overs.

Medium-pacer Nasir Khan then captured six for 31 as PTCL Karachi were bowled out for 130 in 29.2 overs.

In another match, played at UBL Sports Complex, Central Police defeated UBL Karachi by 75 runs. Off-spinner Yousuf Ahmed bowled superbly to claim five for 43.
