UC Naib Nazims voted out

GUJAR KHAN, May 1: Naib Nazims of two union councils of Gujar Khan Tehsil have been removed from their offices through no-confidence motion during meetings of the two local council, sources said.

Raja Hameed of Jhungal Union Council lost the office of Naib Nazim when a no confidence motion was passed by an over whelming majority of 15 votes against him in a specially summoned session.

Dr Aurang Zeb was voted out as Naib Nazim of Kaliam Awan Union Council when a general councillor, Malik Wasim, tabled a no-confidence move against him. About 16 councillors voted against him while four others abstained.

The sources said the passage of no-confidence motion against Dr Zeb lead to a brawl between the former Naib Nazim and the incumbent Nazim Col Ghulam Abbas (retired). Both hurled allegations of corruption and misconduct at each other.

Talking to this correspondent, Col Abbas said his performance had been above board and he was not even charging the rent of the building that he lent for the office of the UC. He termed the allegations levelled against him as baseless.
