Four-year-old boy killed

KASUR, May 1: A four-year-old boy was killed in a road accident at Khara Road here on Thursday.

Police said Aftab Ahmad was going with his father Muhammad Sharif along Khara Road when a rashly-driven truck (No SL 6895) hit him, killing him on the spot.

Residents of adjoining areas gathered there and blocked Khara Road for half an hour. They also burnt used tyres and raised slogans against the police.

They dispersed after the arrest of truck driver Sajid Ali.

SUICIDE: A man committed suicide allegedly by taking poison in Pucca Qilla here on Thursday.

Family said Arshad alias Vicky, 31, quarrelled with his wife when she refused to give him money for gambling. Later, he took poison and died in the DHQ Hospital.

B Division police were investigating.

ARMS SEIZED: The city circle police claimed on Thursday to have arrested 22 men for keeping illegal weapons.

Separate cases were registered against them after the recovery of illegal arms in huge quantity from them.
