PESHAWAR, May 1: The city police have seized 765 kilograms hashish and one Kg opium from a vehicle after fire exchange with smugglers at Lala Killi in Chamkani limits.

A press release issued on Thursday said that the Chamkani police had erected barricade on the GT Road, after receiving information about a smuggling attempt from tribal areas to down country.

At 10:30 pm on Wednesday, the police signalled a vehicle driven by a man wearing fake Frontier Constabulary uniform, but sped away. His accomplices, who were also in the fake FC uniforms, opened fire on the police.

The smugglers sped away towards Lala Killi, where they left the vehicle on roadside and escaped in the fields.

The police recovered 765 kilograms hashish packed in one-kg packets each, and one kg opium concealed in the secret cavities.

The police also seized four fake FC official uniforms, two fake number plates and three name plates of Janas, Amjad and Pir Mohammad from the vehicle.
