Wapda edge out Sui Gas

By Our Correspondent

BANNU, April 30: Fancied Wapda struggled past a fighting Sui Gas 2-1 in the 43rd national football championship here on Wednesday. The teams were 1-1 at half time.

After both teams missed several scoring chances to take an early it was Wapda’s Arif who put his side ahead with a well-executed goal in the 25th minute.

Sui Gas showed their fighting spirit and were eventually rewarded in the 40th minute when Allauddin made the scores level with a first time effort.

With both teams fighting for supremacy it was Wapda’s Khuda Bakhsh who settled the issue when struck in the 63rd minute.

Sui Gas tried hard and came close to snatching the illusive equaliser but were frustrated by solid Wapda defence.

Thursday’s fixtures: Balochistan Greens v NBP at 2.30 p.m; UGC v KRL at 4.45 p.m.
