FAISALABAD, April 30: The wheat procurement drive in the Faisalabad region is in full wing and as of now 32,665 tons of wheat have been purchased in Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts.
This was stated by Food Deputy Director Rana Saeed Ahmad Khan here on Wednesday.
He said that 7,191, 22,878 and 2,566 tons of wheat had been purchased in Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts, respectively, and the payment had been made to the farmers.
The Punjab chief minister, he said, had declared the wheat procurement target as ‘open’, therefore, the wheat procurement target in the Faisalabad region had also been made open.
Besides, he said that the just distribution of ‘bardana’ among farmers had been ensured. So far 1.23 million bags had been provided to farmers. Out of these, 294,511, 834,579 and 109,795 bags had been made available to farmers in Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts, respectively. Sufficient number of bags were still available in the stock, he added.
CAMPAIGN: The campaign launched by the Transport department to check traffic accidents on highways in the Faisalabad district is going on effectively.
Around 264 vehicles were fined during March on the charge of violating traffic rules while 92 vehicles involved in the violation of serious nature were impounded.
This was stated by Motor Vehicle Examiner Javed Bhutta during a briefing in the DCO’s office here on Wednesday.
He said the vehicles fined, included 99 buses, 18 trucks, 62 wagons, 39 rickshaws and 33 tractor trolleys, while 41 pressure horns and two tape recorders causing noise pollution were also taken into possession.
Besides taking action against 174 smoke-emitting vehicles, fitness of 13 vehicles having defective and substandard engines was also suspended, he said.
Owners and drivers of commercial vehicles had been directed to bring their vehicles on roads after fulfilling legal requirements and codal formalities, he added.
