SANGHAR, April 30: The guard of the DPO, investigation, Hyderabad, was killed and two policemen were injured in an encounter between the police and bandits in Tando Adam on Wednesday.

A gang of bandits looted passengers on the Tando Adam-Hyderabad Road on Tuesday night and also reportedly gave letters to the passengers, addressed to DPO Dr Ameer Shaikh, warning him that they would avenge the murder of their accomplice, Ilahoo Khoso, who was shot dead by the police two days back.

A car driver, who had come under fire by the bandits, informed the police about the incident. The police traced the outlaws with the help of foot trackers and encircled them in the Saleh Waryah village, Tando Adam police station jurisdiction.

In the exchange of fire, Abdul Rauf was killed and constable Manthar Zardari and head constable Tanvir Jat were injured.

Our Hyderabad Correspondent adds: The injured policemen were taken to the Hyderabad Civil Hospital.

Two Armoured Personnel Carriers and 60 policemen have also been sent to the site of encounter which was continuing till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, ASI Ghulam Akbar and three constables — Dhani Bux, Ashiq Ali and Mohammad Punho — were injured in an accident near Sekhat between two trucks, carrying policemen for Tando Adam.

BANDIT: Edhi volunteers buried the dead body of the bandit, Illahoo Khoso, at the Eidgah graveyard the other day after no one turned up to claim it. He was allegedly killed in an encounter with the police on Saturday.

Illahoo Khoso’s Namaz-i-Janaza was also held at Eidgah.

Brothers of Ilahoo had also been absconding, after Ilahoo had allegedly killed four of their relatives some two years ago.

Illahoo had formed his gang, which included his own brothers, after participating in various other gangs, the police said.
