SWABI, April 30: The session of the Tehsil Council was marred by an uproar from the opposition members over the legal position of the acting speaker.
The opposition members started shouting, saying that they did not recognize the acting convener of the house, Mohammad Israr.
Convener Ali Yar Khan had joined the UAE Air Force but he secured leave from the tehsil council. Later, Mr Israr was elected but the opposition claimed that his election was not according to rules.
The opposition occupied the seat of the speaker and was forced to leave. However, later the opposition and treasury benches allowed Mr Israr to function as speaker.
The council passed Rs23 million revised budget and the treasury announced that the opposition would get equitable share in the development funds.
The women councillors staged a walkout and demanded an increase in their honoraria from Rs200 to Rs500.
