LANDI KOTAL, April 30: Armed Nikki Khel tribesmen blocked the Peshawar-Landi Kotal Road on Wednesday for four hours to protest the arrest of their tribesmen by the political administration in the kidnapping case of a sub engineer and a government contractor.

Authorities in Landi Kotal had arrested some 23 Zakhakehl tribesmen and impounded four trucks and two pick-up vehicles in order to pressurise the tribesmen for the recovery of sub- engineer Ikramullah and government contractor Ferozuddin.

The two were kidnapped from Brag-Karamna Road on April 1. Since then no trace of the two could be found.

Authorities had dispatched a number of tribal jirgas to help to help locate the missing men but to no vain so far.

Relatives of those arrested blocked the Peshawar-Landi Kotal Road on Wednesday morning at Sultankhel Killi. The road remained closed till 12:00pm and was later cleared after an assurance by the administration that would look into the matter.

Political tehsildar of Landi Kotal, however, insisted that road was cleared without any condition.
