Taliban kill Afghan security guard

By Amanullah Kasi

QUETTA, April 29: The administrator of Spin Boldak, 10km northwest of Chaman, has said that one security guard was killed at a checkpoint in rocket attacks by the Taliban remnants in the early hours of Tuesday.

Talking to Dawn by telephone from Spin Boldak Syed Fazaluddin Agha, the administrator of the area, said that the attackers had managed to cross the border with Pakistan.

He further said that the attackers fled when Afghan security guards retaliated after a security guard Abdul Qahar got killed.

Mr Agha said that the incident was discussed with the Pakistani border security officials on Tuesday.

Replying a question Mr Agha said that armed Taliban men come from Pakistan and, after committing terrorist acts in Afghanistan they return to Pakistan where they are given protection by religious groups there.

But, the district nazim of Qila Abdullah Salauddin Achakzai told newsmen by telephone from Chaman it was not physically possible for an attacker in Afghanistan to walk 20 to 25kms in a day and cross over to Pakistan.
