KARACHI: Modern OPD unit ready at NICVD

KARACHI, April 29: The modern OPD and the new angiography unit at the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases (NICVD) will become functional by May 3, after its formal inauguration by the federal health minister Muhammed Nasir Khan.

The new OPD building of the NICVD has been constructed by INFAQ Foundation, in memory of its founder Agha Hasan Abidi.

Director of the institute, Prof Azhar Farooqui, told APP here on Tuesday that INFAQ Foundation had contributed Rs20 million towards the construction of this OPD building, while the Cardio Vascular Foundation had contributed Rs5 million for furnishing and equipping the building.

The new OPD building has a large basement with a state of the art compressed filing system to cater for the present and future needs of record keeping of the NICVD.

The first floor has separate sections for new and old patients, a new pharmacy and a spacious hall. The space is partially air-conditioned and has a ventilation system for keeping the air afresh.—APP
