Workers’ safety ‘a must’

Published April 29, 2003

LAHORE, April 28: Provision of a healthy atmosphere and ensuring safety of life to workers at their workplaces is necessary for improved industrial performance, said speakers at a conference held here on Monday.

The conference had been organized by the All-Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions on the World Safety and Health Day.

APFTU office-bearers Amin Rathore, Khurshid Ahmad, Osama Tariq, Khushi Muhammad, Fayyaz Butt and others said workers were facing health problems due to ineffective implementation of labour laws by the industrialists.

Demanding the government to effectively implement labour laws in all units at provincial level, they opposed assigning the task to district governments. —Staff Reporter
