Doctors observe strike
MANSEHRA, April 27: The doctors and paramedical staff of the DHQ Teaching Hospital went on an indefinite strike on Saturday as a protest against the beating of an ENT specialist by the paid goons of an influential of the area.
The city police have registered a case under sections 153/186/189 of the PPC against Babar Salim Khan, a local leader of the PML-J and his accomplices.
The doctors and the paramedics had, however, decided to continue their strike till the arrest of the culprits for which they gave the deadline of Monday.
The patients, on the other hand, were facing difficulties due to the strike.
According to a written complaint made to the police by Dr Shafiqur Rehman, MS of the DHQ Teaching Hospital, Dr Mohammad Younis was busy
in examination hall where students of the Frontier Medical College were taking their examination.
Babar Salim Khan allegedly tried to forcefully enter the hall and started wrangling with the gate keeper of the hall.
Later, two unknown persons called Dr Younis from his home and started beating him, but was rescued by the hospital staff.
The accused, Babar Salim Khan, had however denied his involvement in the incident.
He had clarified that his political opponents were trying to implicate him in a criminal case.
