NEW YORK, April 26: Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Miguel Batista was suspended for 10 games and fined an undisclosed amount for inciting a bench-clearing brawl by throwing a ball at the head of batter Tino Martinez.
Major League Baseball vice-president Bob Watson handed down the punishment here Friday as part of a host of banishments in the wake of last Sunday’s brawl between the Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals.—Reuters
