PESHAWAR, April 26: Task Force member on education Abdur Rahim Haqqani has said that the task force will complete its recommendations to formulate a new educational policy despite all odds and limited resources at its disposal.
“We are doing our work with missionary zeal”, he told APP here on Saturday. He said, it is an established fact that people working with missionary zeal, rendered numerous sacrifices for the attainment of their cause.
The members of the task force, he said, are working 21 hours a day to draft the recommendations in order to make the education result-oriented, with main focus on promoting Islamic values and culture among the new generation.
The task force, he said, was concentrating on various matters relating to education which included bringing reforms in education fee structure and uniformity in syllabus. He said, the people will certainly feel positive changes in the new education set-up.
He also referred Islamic reforms initiated by late NWFP Chief Minister Maulana Mufti Mehmud during his tenure in the education sector which were highly welcomed by the people. The introduction of Qari teachers for teaching Arabic in schools during Maulana Mufti Mehmud’s tenure proved beneficial for school teachers, he added.
Responding to a questioner, Mr Haqqani denounced certain circles giving an impression that the MMA was against pantsuit uniform and said “we want to lessen financial burden on the poor men who can not afford to purchase trousers and shirt for their children”.
There is no harm if Shalwar-Kameez was introduced as school uniform in the province, he elaborated.
In reply to a question, Abdur Rahim Haqqani said, the education system should focus on respect and love for religion Islam, its values besides promoting spirit of patriotism for the country among the youth.
About opponents’ propaganda against the MMA government in the NWFP, Mr Haqqani said, Chief Minister NWFP Akram Khan Durrani is leading a team of sincere and honest people who wanted to serve the province and the people in true sense.
He elaborated that Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani attends the office for 18 hours a day and tries his best to dispose of maximum work load so that the people get the benefit of the government’s decisions on various policies in time.
Replying to another query, he said, people in the MMA could not be influenced through money and other third degree tactics.
