KARACHI: Workers’ welfare discussed


KARACHI, April 26: A close coordination between the Employees Social Security Institutions of Sindh and Punjab is essential for the removal of fears and apprehensions that are emerging owing to a poor understanding of relevant laws.

This was stated by the Commissioner, Punjab Employees Social Security Institution, Haroon Rasheed, while discussing proposed amendments to the Social Security Ordinance and effective implementation of the scheme in Sindh with the officials of Sindh Social Security Institution (SESSI) here on Saturday. Mr Rasheed is leading a delegation which is currently on a visit to Sindh.

Appreciating the performance of SESSI, he said that all out efforts were under way to promote the scheme in Punjab.

Briefing about the his institution’s achievements, he said that revenue generation had touched Rs1.05 billion mark whereas 538,000 employees of 28,000 industrial and trade units had been registered so far. He said that the registered employees were being provided with medical facilities through the institution’s hospitals. Such facilities included bypass surgery, he added.

On his part, the Commissioner of SESSI told the delegation that new units were being established at hospitals working under his institution. He mentioned the establishment of a cardiac unit at Kulsoom Bai Valika Hospital and a neuro surgery unit at Landhi Hospital.

The delegation visited Korangi Association of Trade and Industries (KATI) and met several industrialists. The delegation also visited Kulsoom Bai Valika Hospital.—PPI
