ISLAMABAD, April 24: The National Assembly will discuss restructuring of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and handing over its two main components to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Friday’s session, an interior ministry source told Dawn.
The source said the National Assembly Secretariat has informed the interior ministry about the issue.
He said although President Gen Pervez Musharraf and the last federal cabinet had given approval for the merger of FIA’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes wings into the NAB, but the interior ministry was unhappy over the decision. The NAB, he said, would get more powers and its orbit of investigation enhanced.—Staff Reporter
