KARACHI: Three women commit suicide

KARACHI, April 24: Three women committed suicide in separate incidents in various parts of the city Thursday.

Police said Afroz, 24, wife of Qari Muhammad Afzal, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her home in Saeedabad.

Her body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where hospital sources said she had apparently committed suicide.

In New Karachi, Salma, 35, wife of Iqbal, suffered severe burns as she set herself on fire in her home in Sector 11-F.

She was rushed to Abbasi Hospital where she died shortly afterwards. Police said the victim was childless, her husband was away at work when she resorted to self-immolation.

An unidentified woman committed suicide by throwing herself in front of the locomotive of Shalimar Express in Landhi at 6am.

Police quoting eyewitnesses said the woman came on the tracks and stood in front of the fast approaching train. Her mutilated body was shifted to JPMC.
