MOSCOW, April 24: British Prime Minister Tony Blair is to visit Russia on Tuesday for talks with President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service said on Thursday.
The meeting will be the first between the two leaders since March 20, when the United States and Britain invaded Iraq, a move which Mr Putin had fought to avert.
Mr Blair had earlier turned down an invitation to meet with Putin during an April 12 summit in Saint Petersburg that also included the leaders of Germany and France.
There were no immediate details about the subject of Blair’s upcoming discussions with Putin, although Iraq is likely to dominate the talks. —AFP
