Robbers, burglars enjoy field day

RAWALPINDI, April 23: Robbers and burglars struck at five different places here depriving people of cash and jewellery, police said on Wednesday.

In the first incident, two persons posing as patients entered a private clinic in Satellite Town and took doctor Mohammad Amin and patients at gunpoint. They snatched cash from the doctor and the patients and escaped.

In another incident, two persons snatched a cab IDE-3206 and Rs300 from Mohammad Afzal at gunpoint and escaped. They threw him at a deserted place before fleeing from the scene.

Shaukat Zaman, a resident of Fauji Colony, Pirwadhi, lodged a complaint with the police saying that some burglars broke into his house and made off with Rs55,000, prize bonds and jewellery.

In another incident, Abdul Rasheed lost cash and valuables worth Rs70,000 after some burglars broke into his house at Jatli. Munawar Azeem adds:

Two persons including a police constable were killed in separate road accidents in Islamabad on Wednesday.

A 60-year-old woman was critically injured after being hit by a speeding passenger wagon RPT-7254 at Khana bridge on Wednesay.

The injured woman, who was yet to be identified, was taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where doctor pronounced her dead before arrival at the hospital. Secretariat police impounded the vehicle while the wagon driver escaped from the scene.
