Saddam in Iraq: Hoon

UMM QASR, April 23: British Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon said on Wednesday he thought former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was still alive and in the country.

“In the end we don’t know, but in my best judgment he is,” said Mr Hoon when asked if he thought Saddam Hussein was still in Iraq.

“There are any number of stories coming in about where he might have been,” said the British minister.

Geoff Hoon, the first cabinet level official from either Britain or US to visit Iraq since Saddam’s ouster, said he was not disheartened by the small number of regime officials detained so far. —AFP
