LAHORE, April 21: The Punjab Zakat Council on Monday sanctioned Rs121.09 million for distribution among 7,221 deserving people under the permanent rehabilitation scheme to enable them to start small scale business.

Of it, Rs40.983 million was sanctioned for 2,110 people of Rawalpindi district, Rs21.1925 million for 1,382 of Mandi Bahauddin and Rs13.7 million for 1,052 of Kasur.

The council sanctioned Rs12.204 million for 797 people of Sargodha, Rs12.773 million for 727 people of Sialkot, Rs10.483 million for 709 people of Okara and Rs7.125 million for 359 of Attock district.

A sum of Rs152,000 was sanctioned for nine deserving people of Rahim Yar Khan district.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The council sanctioned Rs1.6335 million scholarships for 333 students of 19 educational institutions in Multan district, Rs799,788 for 398 students of Gujranwala and Rs331,116 for 141 students of five educational institutions in Kasur district.

A sum of Rs7.5942 million was sanctioned for 40 religious institutions in Rahim Yar Khan district and Rs2.997 million for Model Madressah Ghausia, Company Bagh, Sargodha.

The council sanctioned Rs500,000 for the kidney transplant of the Punjab University Social Work Department student Nazia Mumtaz on the recommendation of the chief minister.
