HARIPUR, April 21: The deputy district officer, primary, has ordered closing down of a private school established in violation of rules and issued warning to others, sources told Dawn on Monday.
On a complaint, Haripur Primary DDO Taimoor Khan paid a surprise visit to Crescent Public School, Labor Colony, Hattar, and found it unregistered and not following the rules of providing potable water, latrines and electricity in the congested class rooms. He ordered the school’s immediate closure.
The DDO warned other institutions which were unregistered or were not providing facilities to the student, to follow the rules or be prepared to face action.
He asked the parents to confirm whether the school was registered before enrolled their children.
There are at least 98 registered and 75 unregistered schools in the district.
Most of the private institutions are established in contravention of rules and they lack basic facilities.
