KARACHI: Sunken trawler salvaged

Published April 22, 2003

KARACHI, April 21: A fishing trawler that sank in the sea 18 months go has been salvaged by the joint efforts of the navy and the Karachi Port Trust.

According to KPT sources on Monday, the vessel ASMAK-V sank near the harbour 18 months ago and since then the owners had been trying to salvage it. Since it was posing a serious threat to shipping, the KPT sought the navy’s help for its removal.

Under the supervision of Captain Aslam Rana, a diving team of the Pakistan Navy worked for more than 12 days to salvage the vessel. The KPT helped the navy in the operation. — APP
