KARACHI, April 20: Judge Feroz Mahmood Bhatti of the anti-terrorism court No 5 issued notice on Saturday to the defence counsel for an accused in a bomb blast case for not turning up in the court.

The judge, who is conducting the trial inside the Central Prison Karachi, fixed April 22 for the next hearing of the case against Sabir Waseem.

The Aalmi worker has been charged with launching an anti-tank rocket (BM-107) that had pierced through the wall of Commerce College on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road on November 23, 2001.

This was the second consecutive time when defence counsel Amir Mansoob Qureshi did not turn up to attend the hearing.

KIDNAPPING CASE: Judge Arshad Noor Khan of the ATC-3 put off the hearing of a kidnapping for ransom case against a juvenile accused after the prosecution closed its side with the statement of the accused.

The judge fixed Monday for recording the statement of accused Basheer Ahmed, after special public prosecutor Naimat Ali Randhawa conducted the examination- in-chief of the investigation officer, Sub-inspector Kisten Din.

The judge had also ordered the forfeiture of the entire movable and immovable property of Habibullah and Sultan Ahmed, who were handed down the capital punishment.

The case against Basheer Ahmed was separated from the two other accused as he was under age.
