Swindlers, thieves strike at 8 places in twin cities

RAWALPINDI, April 18: Swindlers and thieves struck at eight different places in the twin cities and looted cash and stole vehicles, police said on Friday.
In the first incident, two persons deprived a man of cash in an I-9 bank branch on Friday. Mohammad Nasim lodged a complaint with the I-9 police saying that he drew cash from the Muslim Commercial Bank branch and was counting it when two persons inside the bank came to him and asked him that there were some fake currency notes in the cash.
Mr Nasim said the two strangers took the cash from him to “identify” the fake currency notes. He said after checking the notes they handed him over the cash and slipped out of the bank. The victim said when he recounted the cash, he found that he had been swindled. The police are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, a jeep (VRE-2265) of the Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) was stolen from Islamabad, while a motorcycle IDL-7136 was lifted from street 33, sector G-8/2. Doctor Javaid’s motorcycle number LHL-845 was stolen from street 23, sector G-10/1.
Similarly, doctor Sajid’s car (IDL-3630) was stolen from New Katarian, while another motorcycle RIU-5776 was lifted from the RA Bazaar area. Earlier, Khawaja Iqbal Saleem’s motorcycle RIW- 7673 was stolen from outside his F-Block residence.
Meanwhile, some unidentified burglars broke into a utility store in Rawat and made off with cash. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
