PR timetable irks people

DERA GHAZI KHAN, April 18: A change in the Pakistan Railways timetable has been most inconvenient for local passengers.

According to the new timetable, effective since April 15, the Quetta-bound Chilton Express arrives here at 3:55am, which is specially inconvenient for the people of Tehsil Taunsa Sharif, many of whom have jobs in Baluchistan and use the Dera Ghazi Khan Railway station for travelling by train, as the railway line does not touch their hometown.

The income of Dera Ghazi Khan station has gone down from Rs10,000 a day to just Rs1,000 as a result of the change in timetable.

People of the district have demanded restoration of the old timetable for the arrival of Quetta-bound Chilton Express here, which suited them. — Correspondent
