KARACHI, April 18: Sindh transport minister Mohammad Adil Siddiqui has issued directives for reduction in the fares of public transport.
An announcement to this effect was made on Friday.
It said that a meeting of the Sindh government officials and transporters would be held on Saturday during which the new fares would be determined and a notification regarding reduction in the fares would be issued.
The minister also directed the secretary of transport that fares be reduced with immediate effect and said that the relief owing to decrease in petroleum products’ prices be passed on to people.
He said that transporters would also be informed in advance so that there should be no bitterness.
The statement further stated that on the directive of the transport minister, the secretary of transport has convened a meeting of the officers of the department and representatives of the transporters on Saturday.
It said that a notification regarding reduction in the fares would be issued the same day.—APP
