KARACHI, April 18: The Sindh Zakat and Ushr department has announced that a sum of Rs149,944,000 has been released to the educational institutions of the province through the district zakat committee for payment to deserving/eligible students under MORA scholarship scheme of the department.

Under the schemes, from Rs75 to Rs874 per month shall be paid to deserving students by schools, colleges, university concerned, from primary to post-graduate level, and as per an estimate around 100,000 students shall be benefited from the scheme this year.

The students, once declared eligible for receipt of MORA scholarships, would continue to receive assistance till the completion of their education.

All the educational institutions have been asked to prepare lists of meritorious-cum-deserving students in a proper form so that every deserving student be provided assistance of MORA scholarship.

With the implementation of the scheme, the promotion of education and literacy in the province will gain momentum, the department further stated.—PPI
