RAWALPINDI, April 15: The additional district and sessions judge, Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum, on Tuesday awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment each to three persons for robbing a bank in Rawalpindi.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 each on the convicts, Maqbool Hussain, Mehmoodul Hasan and Zafar Iqbal, who robbed the Shamasabad branch of Habib Bank. In case of non- payment, the convicts would have to undergo another year of RI.
In the same case, the court acquitted a co-accused, Ferhad Aslam, owing to the lack of evidence against him.
Similarly, the civil judge and judicial magistrate, Hasnain Azhar Shah, awarded five-month RI to a person for looting a house in the jurisdiction of Banni police.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs3,000 on the convict, Arif Maseh, who would have to undergo another month of jail term, if he failed to pay the fine.
