RAWALPINDI, April 15: One employee of a CNG station was killed and two others were injured when a gas cylinder burst at a filling station at Haji Chowk, Sadiqabad, on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place while a passenger pick-up (KC-6184) was being fueled. Three employees — Junaid Abbasi, 22, Farzand Ali Shah, 28, and 23-year-old Jaffer Ali Shah — were injured. They were shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital.

However, Junaid Abbasi, a resident of Murree, died before reaching the hospital, doctors and police said. The other two injured were stated to be in critical condition.

According to the filling station manager, Khurrum, the cylinder burst due to defective quality of the material.

Meanwhile, Farhan Ashfaq, who was shot and injured near his house in Muslim Town, in the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station, died at the RGH.

Adnan Ashfaq, brother of the deceased, in an FIR lodged with the police, said Taimur Kiani, accompanied by an unidentified person, killed his brother.

The deceased’s body was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy, police and doctor said.

ONE KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT: One woman was killed and a minor boy injured in separate road accidents on Tuesday, police said.

In the first incident, Rafia Jan, 60, a resident of Islamabad, was injured after being hit by a car (IDJ-6948) near Khanna bridge in the jurisdiction of Secretariat Police Station. she was taken to the RGH where she died.

In the other incident, a minor boy received head injuries in a road accident near Shamsabad.

Abdul Rehman, 4, was playing on a road when hit by a vehicle (H-7821 Peshawar) that belonged to an NGO. According to the police, the driver, Farooq, was trying to reverse the vehicle when the incident took place.

The injured was taken to the RGH in critical condition.
