KARACHI, April 15: Nine ships carrying containers, crude oil, high speed diesel and to load rice are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.
The activity, which has been relatively slow on the wharves is expected to pick up after the arrivals of all the incoming vessels.
Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where three ships, Global Paramount, Kota Wirwan to offload and load containers and Lode Star Grace to unload chemicals were berthed after the departure of Izumo.
Three others including Global Parmount, Lode Star Grace and X-Press Khailash are due to sail out on Wednesday.
Cargo handling showed a modest rise after two lean days and rose to 44,926 tons comprising 29,636 tons of export cargo including 13,200 tons of liquid one and 15,290 tons of import tonnage.
The following ships are due on Wednesday: APL Venezuela, Cape Henry, Al-Mirqab and Hyundai Stride, with containers, Rise to load 14,000 tons of rice, Al-Amin-4 to offload iron scrap, Spectrum to unload 57,000 tons of gas oil, Lombardia, with 65,000 tons crude oil and Action Express, with 52,000 tons of high speed diesel.

KARACHI, April 15: A cargo volume of 42,429 tons comprising 38,571 tons of import tonnage and 3,858 tons of export cargo was handled during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Tuesday.
Four ships, Iran Mezan and Al Farabi, Xin Xing Hai and Miraj were busy in loading/offloading sugar and edible oil, general cargo and high speed diesel oil.
Sailing activity remained slow as only one ship Docomo sailed out during the period.
