State Bank invites comments

KARACHI, April 14: The State Bank has invited views and suggestions on the draft of Prudential Regulations it has been revising.

“With a view to provide greater flexibility and authority to banks, the State Bank of Pakistan has decided to revise the existing Prudential Regulations,” says a SBP press release. “The draft of the revised Prudential Regulation has been placed at the SBP website (www.sbp.org.pk).

“Views/suggestions on these draft Prudential Regulations are invited from bankers, businessmen, academics, accountants and members of the general public. It is hoped that the stakeholders by identifying the major weaknesses as well as key concerns relating to these draft regulations will make a direct impact on the future direction of banking sector in Pakistan.”

The central bank has advised that all views/suggestions of the interested quarters should be sent to Muhammad Kamran Shehzad, Director, Banking Policy Department, latest by 30th April 2003.
