ABBOTTABAD, April 12: Muhammad Saeed Khan, Inspector-General Police, NWFP, has asked the investigation cell to improve its image by conducting fair investigations and by going by their motto: “Innocent out, oppressor punished”.

Speaking to police officials at the inauguration ceremony of the SP investigation office here at the Police Lines on Saturday, the IGP said that under the new police ordinance, the police has been given a special status like that of other departments, and now all responsibility rested on the shoulders of the investigation officer to produce result and deliver justice to the affected people.

He said if the investigation was carried out on scientific basis and no loopholes were left in the process, justice will be done.

The IGP said that in the new ordinance, the district Nazim has been given a pivotal role to curb crime and to provide relief to the common man, for which, he said, Police Safety Commission and Justice Coordination Committee has been formed.

He said that the ordinance must be implemented in full and if there were any flaws or discrepancies in it these should be pointed out.

Regarding the improvement in the working conditions of the police, he said a reasonable amount had been spent on the renovation and repairs of police station buildings.

Vehicles are also being provided and forensic laboratories established in all districts.
