LAHORE, April 12: ARD president Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan has asked Gen Pervez Musharraf to immediately withdraw the LFO.

Briefing reporters after a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Party here on Saturday, he said the incumbent political government was a continuation of Gen Musharraf’s army rule.

He said the combined opposition in the parliament had decided that it would not allow President Musharraf to address the joint session of the parliament.

“As we do not recognize Musharraf as president, there is no question of accepting his presidential address (to the joint session).”

Replying to a question, he said the ARD and other parties did not accept the LFO as part of the Constitution and in league with the combined opposition they would struggle for its withdrawal.

Saying Gen Musharraf had occupied the presidency through a commando action, he demanded presidential election through the procedure prescribed in the Constitution.

Replying to another question, he said as Gen Musharraf was an unconstitutional president, the ARD was not ready to accept him as president even if he would remove his military uniform.

Earlier, the PDP elected Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan president, Nazar Rahman Rana, Basharat Mirza and Javed Khan Sawati vice-presidents, and Khwaja Izhar Amritsari information secretary.
