Jr squash qualifying round ends

LAHORE, April 11: The two-day qualifying round of the Faysal Bank national junior boys and girls championship ended with completion of all the four age categories rounds (Under-19, Under-17, Under-15 and Under-13) of boys at the Punjab Squash Complex on Friday.

Top four players of all the age categories have qualified for the main round to join 12 top ranked players to make it 16-player draw which starts from Saturday.

The competitions for girls will also begin from Saturday. In all 47 girls will take part in the different age groups contests.

In Under-19, section, Riaz Hussain (PAF), Atique Butt (Punjab), Maqbali Khan (NWFP) and Shahnawaz (Punjab) qualified for the main round. Safeer Khan (PAF) is the top seed of this age group.

In Under-17 event, Adil Atlas (PAF), Bilal Zaman (PAF), Fahim Gul (PAF) and Aqib Hanif (Punjab) entered the main round.Farhan Mehboob (PAF) is No 1 of this section.

Nadeem Khan (Punjab), Abdul Basit Samad (Punjab), Arshad Shafi (Punjab) and Alam Khan (PAF) reserved places in the main round from Under-15 competition. Waqar Ahmad (PAF) is the top ranked of this section.

In Under-13, Aurangzeb (Punjab), Asif Khan (NWFP), Ibrahim Omar (Punjab) and Owais Rahim (Punjab) entered the next round. Waqar Mehboob (PAF) is the leader of this section.

Following players were already in the main round due to their top ranking:

Under-19: Safeer Khan (PAF), Adnan Gul (NWFP), Basit Ashfaq (Punjab), Atique Rehman (NWFP), Faisal Zaman (PAF), Naveed Nasir (PAF), Khurram Shehzad (Punjab), Rizwan Ahmed (Balochistan), Adeel Hanif (Punjab), Yasir Butt (Punjab), Saqib Zia (NWFP), Khalid Atlas (PAF).

Under-17: Farhan Mehboob (PAF), Majeed Hussain (PAF), Rashid (Punjab), Yasir Sarwar (Punjab), Wasim Gul (Punjab), Awais Amin (Punjab), Sharoom Khan (NWFP), Farzan Rasheed (Punjab), Mustafa Hussain (Punjab), Ali Liaqat (Punjab), Muhammad Wasim (Punjab), Haider Jamal (Punjab).
