Kiln workers

Published April 12, 2003

LAHORE, April 11: Brick kiln workers on Friday demonstrated outside the Lahore Press Club to express resentment against denial of minimum wages of Rs184 for moulding 1,000 bricks, and recovery of fictitious advances from them.

Talking to the demonstrators, Bonded Labour Freedom Front leaders Aslam Pervez Sahotra, Chaudhry Abbas and Ilyas Masih said the brick kiln workers were being deprived of the minimum wages, social security and old-age benefits.
