Four die in separate incidents

RAWALPINDI, April 9: Two persons were killed in separate incidents, while two bodies were found from different localities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Wednesday.

According to the police, a gardener of Capital Development Authority (CDA) died after falling into an open manhole in sector H-8.

The incident came to light when the CDA staff carried out a search for their colleague, Basharat Ali, who went missing on Wednesday. The staff found the gardener’s body lying in a deep manhole in the H-8 green belt.

In another incident, a man was found murdered in the woods of Morgah area. Raja Adalat, 33, left his house on Tuesday night to collect wood, but did not return.

The police said unidentified persons shot dead Raja Adalat after tying him to a tree.

A case was registered on the complaint of victim’s father, however, no one had been arrested.

Similarly, body of a new-born baby was found from the green area of Tarlai Kalan on Wednesday.

A REPORTER ADDS: A 3-year-old boy, Talha, and his mother, Abida, sustained critical injuries when a car (MNH-9721) hit them near Zia Mosque in the jurisdiction of Secretariat police station.

Talha was shifted to Pims where he died, while his mother was stated to be in serious condition at a hospital in Rawalpindi.

In another incident, an 18-year-old woman, Sobia, received burn injuries while cooking food at her house in Chontra. She was shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) with 50 per cent burns, police and doctors said.

Similarly, Nadia Kousar, 23, was burnt in her house at Kotli Sattian. She received over 50 per cent burns and was taken to the RGH.

According to father-in-law of the victim, Nadia sustained burns when a kerosene lamp fell on her.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Bashir told Sihala police that his wife and nephew were injured when as many as 10 people attacked them at his house.

The complainant alleged that 10 people, including Nazir Hussain, Liaqat Hussain, Nazakat Hussain, Amanat Hussain, entered his house by force and attacked his wife and nephew.

The police said the incident occurred due to an old family dispute.

THEFTS: Ataul Haq Akthar, a resident of sector I/8-3, informed the Industrial Area police that his servant allegedly deprived him of prize-bonds worth Rs275,000, a licensed pistol and other valuables. Mr Akhtar alleged that his servant, Sajid Hussain, along with Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Jamil committed the theft.

In another incident, Safdar Javed told the Secretariat police that unidentified persons entered his house in Pindora and escaped after looting two air-conditioners, a refrigerator and other articles.

CASH LOOTED: Three robbers on Wednesday looted the Railway Reservation Office at Chandni Chowk and also snatched a motorbike of an official before escaping from the scene, police said.
