IGATEX 2003 inaugurated

KARACHI, April 9: Chairman Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Tariq Ikram said on Wednesday that the problems facing exporters under DTRE scheme have been resolved and the necessary amendments to this regard will be made within a month.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a four-day international garments, textile and leather machinery, accessories and fabrics exhibition, IGATEX Pakistan 2003, at Karachi Expo Centre.

Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Hasan Kemal Gur, President of Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (TEMSAD) of Turkey Mustafa Sener, Pegasus Consultancy managing director Aasim A. Siddiqui, and CEMS-Singapore managing director Edward Liu were also present on the occasion.

The EPB chief said that all the problems which were communicated by the exporters regarding Duty and Tax Remission on Exports (DTRE) scheme to EPB had been resolved at Tuesday’s meeting in Islamabad and a notification carrying out all the amendments would be issued within one month.

Referring to the incentives for exporters, EPB chief said that government has contributed Rs80 million for the development of new products.

He said the exporters with less than $5 million export value per annum were entitled for a subsidy for improving quality.—APP
