Birds die in gas fire

SADIQABAD, April 8: Hundreds of birds perished in Tuesday’s gas pipeline blaze in Bhutta Wahan, 20km from here.

Raging fire which could be seen from several kilometres also left more than 50 cattleheads, mainly sheep and goats, dead. Bird remains were seen near scores of trees which were also burnt.

The locals who get up for Fajr prayers found the sky in northwest lit up.

Witnesses said gas leak/smoke was smelt in a radius of 8km. Villagers of Busti Ghulam Haider said it was suffocating in the morning.
