KARACHI: NGOs urged to play role for reproductive health


KARACHI, April 8: Provincial Minister for Health, Dr Saeeda Malik, has said that providing facilities for reproductive health is not the responsibility of the government only, the NGOs and the people should also cooperate with the government.

She said this during her visit to the Marie Stopes Center and Support Office, Mehmoodabad, here om Tuesday. Provincial Secretary Health, Ashiq Memon, accompanied her.

She asked the patients there about the facilities being offered to them with regard to reproductive health.

She said the ever-increasing population had caused multifarious problems, both social and economic, and we should make a viable plan on permanent basis.

On this occasion, MD of the Centre Dr Mohsina Bilgrami, external relations director Sajid Jafferi and operation director Dr Siddiq Kiyani were also present.

A documentary prepared was also screened on the occasion. The Dr Saeeda Malik appreciated the services rendered by the the Marie Stopes Center and expressed the hopee that it would extend its activities to rural areas as well.—PPI
