HARIPUR, April 7: Two police constables were injured when attacked by the relatives of alleged bootleggers during a raid on a hotel from where the CIA police claimed to have recovered drugs worth thousands here on Saturday evening. The attackers succeeded in freeing the arrested persons reportedly.

According to CIA police a police party comprising three constables and IHC namely Raja Bakhtiar on an intelligence report, raided the hotel of a drug pusher Ashraf alias Papa and recovered 110 bottles of local liquor and 3 kg of charas and nabbed Rashid Mehmood, Mohammad Arshad, Riafat Khan and Basher.

When the policemen were about to leave, the relatives of arrested persons, who were larger in number, attacked the cops with bricks, batons and sticks forcing them to flee the scene leaving behind the accused.

Two constables namely Durrya Khan and Sakhawat Shah received multiple injuries and they were rushed to the DHQ hospital Haripur. Later heavy contingents of local police raided the houses of accused but failed to arrest any of them.
