MIRPURKHAS, April 7: Pakistan People’s Party MNA Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur has strongly reacted to the statement of the Wapda chairman Zulfiqar Ali Khan who equated Rainee Canal with Thal Canal.
Talking to a delegation of growers from Mirpurkhas district on Monday, the central executive committee member of the party said Thal Canal was a controversial canal which was being imposed at the cost of Sindh’s agriculture interests while the Rainee Canal was the need of the hour, said a press statement.
Mr Talpur lamented that Wapda, which is supposed to safeguard the interests of all the four provinces, was not serving the interests of Sindh.
He said the PPP takes full responsibility to safeguard the interests of all the four provinces without any discrimination and purge Wapda of the elements involved in the business of working against smaller provinces.
He asked the Wapda not to indulge in speeches which cause hatred among the provinces instead give attention to widespread complaints against the Wapda officials and their rampant corruption.
The PPP leader also demanded that complete ban should be imposed on the Wapda officials to comment on the controversial Kalabagh Dam as their comments smash goodwill among the provinces.
