HYDERABAD, April 7: At least 365 non-SNE health centres, dispensaries and hospitals are being given approval for Summary for New Establishment (SNE) and these health centres will be made functional to provide maximum health facilities to the people of the province.

This was stated by the director-general of Health Services, Sindh, Dr Qadir Bux Memon, who was speaking at a press conference at his office here on Monday.

He said that the Sindh chief secretary and the health secretary had issued special and immediate instructions to retrieve all the cases of public welfare from cold storage and start work on them without any further delay.

He said the cases of 800 contractual doctors for their regularization were also being processed and the government had sanctioned Rs30 million for the purchase of medical instruments in all the rural health centres and Taluka and district hospitals to provide health cover, including the diagnosis of diseases.

He further said that the government had also approved Rs10 million for the repairs of medical instruments.

He said in order to eradicate polio from the province in toto, an anti-polio campaign will be resumed from April 15 to 17 and 8.4 million children will be administered polio drops.

He disclosed that in the anti-polio drive last month, 94 per cent children of the province were administered polio drops.

He urged the print media to help the department for administering anti-polio drops to the remaining six per cent children by creating awareness among the people.

He said that the people should also be motivated to get their children immunized against six other diseases.

He said he had also received complaints about the spread of hepatitis in various parts of the province, and added that under instructions from the health secretary, 1,000 kits were being arranged for the diagnosis of hepatitis.
