HYDERABAD, April 7: The Tandojam police on Saturday sought more time from the court of the sessions judge to ascertain the whereabouts of Mir Mohammad Siyal, guard of the Sindh Agricultural University.

Mr Siyal has been missing from the university since 1998.

The sessions judge, Parkash Lal M. Ambwani, had earlier issued notice to the Tandojam police in response to a human rights complaint filed by Ms Hameeda, daughter of the guard.

The applicant had claimed that her father had been kidnapped by Makhdoom Sikandar while he was on duty.

She said that Mr Sikandar had taken her father on a motorcycle after which his whereabouts remained unknown.

In her application, she had accused Khawand Bakhsh Mirbahar, Makhdoom Sikandar along with Sikandar Gohar, Jalal Buki, Allah Warayo Selhar, Bashir and others of murdering her father, saying that she had come to now about her father’s fate through another guard of the university.

She said that she had informed the then senior superintendent of the police about the incident, adding that the police had arrested some persons but they were let off for unknown reasons.

Mr Siyal’s daughter further said that the university was not releasing her father’s pension, salaries and other fringe benefits claiming that there was no authentic proof regarding her father’s death.

The application further said that she had also reported the kidnapping of her father to the university officials but no steps were taken in this regard.

SUTA: The university authorities in a statement, submitted before the sessions judge, claimed that Mr Siyal had been “absent” since March 11, 1998 and the university asked his relatives to prove themselves to be the legal heirs of the deceased for availing benefits of his service.
